Lawyer at the Chemical Agency
The Chemical Agency is a government authority tasked with reducing the risks of harm to people and the environment from chemicals. As an employee with us, you are part of significant work for sustainable development in Sweden, within the EU, and globally. We are 250 employees, and our office is located in central Sundbyberg.
Are you a lawyer interested in socially important issues? Do you want to influence chemical work while contributing to a toxic-free environment?
We need to expand our legal operations and are now looking for more lawyers who want to contribute their expertise and commitment.
The Chemical Agency offers you exciting tasks within a legal area that is constantly changing and developing. Chemical legislation is largely harmonized within the EU, which means that we work extensively with the application and development of EU legislation to ensure a high level of protection for health and the environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Legal Secretariat has a broad and significant mission to ensure that the authority's work maintains high legal quality. We are a team of about ten lawyers working with both chemical law and administrative law issues.
We are responsible for providing legal support in the authority's work regarding, among other things, licensing, supervision, and market control, as well as regulatory development at both national and international levels. With us, you will also have the opportunity to work with regulations, consultations, and government assignments, support EU work, and represent the authority in court. Your tasks will also include providing support on administrative law, public access and confidentiality, other legal matters, and the authority's digitization.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- a law degree or equivalent
- several years of experience in legal work at a government agency
- experience in administrative law
- experience in EU law
- good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish and English
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience in market control or other supervision
- experience in environmental law
- experience in legal issues regarding the digitization of authorities
- experience in contract and procurement issues
- experience working in the Government Offices, or
- are a qualified notary or have other experience in legal work in court
In addition to your formal qualifications, we see that you are responsible and take the initiative to drive work forward with the ability to place issues in a holistic perspective. You can prioritize and adapt to the needs of the organization while being structured and meticulous. You are used to analyzing complex legal issues and can quickly switch between different legal matters. The role requires you to work independently while collaborating effectively with other lawyers and colleagues in other professions, as well as explaining legal matters in a clear and understandable way.
We place great importance on your personal qualities.
OTHER

We expect all employees to contribute to a good working climate and understand their role as civil servants in our common mission.
You work and act according to our employee policy and our values. We also conduct targeted work for equal rights and opportunities.
The Chemical Agency applies a six-month probationary period for all employments.
Based on the needs of the organization, there is an opportunity, after agreement with the manager, to work up to half of the working hours remotely.
